The School of Transformational Leadership

Honestly, I've taken many courses, but none have impacted me as much as the Personal Transformative Leadership Course organized by the School of Transformational Leadership! When discussing the curriculum, it is raw, authentic, and designed to unlock participants’ potential. Personal Leadership taught me why I must lead myself first to be recognized as a transformative leader. The Mandate to Multiply Leadership opened my eyes to the fact that leadership is not just about me, but about the community I serve.

The community setup was exceptional! The coach and my peers pushed me beyond my comfort zone, encouraging me to explore more and supporting me through every stage of learning. By the end of the training, I became a better version of myself. I listened more and developed a strong desire to serve others first. I improved my ability to develop and execute effective leadership strategies.

I gained and refined skills that boost productivity and communication, empowering me to master influence and conflict management. More importantly, I became more confident as a leader, which now benefits my daily tasks. Ultimately, I learned that leadership is about people, not oneself. Therefore, from self-discovery to leadership mastery, each module ignited a new motivation within me. I shed my limitations, faced my fears, and uncovered a version of myself I never knew existed!

When I started the Personal Transformative Leadership Course in 2025, I wasn't sure what to expect going in. But a few months with Dr. Olusegun Osineye and the School of Transformational Leadership genuinely shifted something in how I see myself as a leader and more importantly, how I show up for others.

The program covered a lot of ground including modules on personal and emergent leadership, effective and efficient leadership practices, the art and science of leading transformation, growth-oriented leadership, amongst others. It might look like a lot at first glance, but the way it was structured made it feel less like coursework and more like hands-on practice. We practiced the lessons in real situations and submitted progress reports.  

What stuck with me most weren't the frameworks, while those were essential, three things stuck with me through: growth doesn't live in comfort; competence alone won't take you far if nobody sees your leadership; and the real measure of a leader isn't what you accomplish yourself, it's who you help along the way.

My team at my workplace will tell you I've always been approachable. I genuinely try to listen, not just hear. If someone has an idea, I want to know about it. And I don't hold back praise when it's earned. But the program sharpened something underneath all of that. It gave me the language and structure for what I was already trying to do instinctively. Since completing the program, I have improved in my leadership role and earned a promotion. I also started a network focused on helping Black professionals utilize AI for good, breaking down the technical side into steps that make sense to non-technical people. This network of Smart AI Users, that has now grown to over 1,400 members, was able to scale fast due to a leadership philosophy I discovered during this program - new approaches to collaboration while being people-centered.

For young professionals trying to emerge from the tension of staying in your comfort zone and stepping into a greater sphere of impact, you will need a program like this! Today, I'm glad to share this reflection, with a grateful heart, as I press on being a better transformational leader and helping others on their transformative journey as well.
